Blog # 9 My Inspiation
Posted by shantelmead at 5:50 PM 1 comments

I believe one of the things that inspires most people is Money!! in a way, this somewhat motivates me to buckle down and do whatever is necessary to ensure my success. As you aspire to be more successful in life, your attitude towards yourself and others will play a huge role also. Positive people learn how to handle life differently and use opportunities to grow. Everyone wants a better life and if you are constantly working on self improvement, you will develop more self-confidence, better self-esteem and greater internal motivation to be the best. Another thing that inspires me is people who demonstrate courage and strength. I am inspired by people who make it against all odds. More importantly, my son, he inspires me to want to be as good of a role model for him as I can possibly be. He is a major source of inspiration for me. He makes me want to be a better person and inspires me to get financially fit. He's one person I truly admire. No matter how much hard times I've had to endure, I always keep a good heart and positive attitude for him. But overall, I get inspiration from a desire to be the best I can be. here is a link on poems for motivation http://www.motivational-well-being.com/motivational-poems.html

Blog# 8 changes

Having just about wrapped up my first semester, I can honestly say these last few months have been interesting yet fun. Meeting new people, had a little freedom, and have learned the consequences of procrastination. What we choose to do with out time differs greatly. Some spend most of their day socializing. Others spent the bulk of their time “pretending” to do work. Some spend their day thinking, while others spend time doing. Learning to effectively balance work, family and friends is of great importance. Despite its significance, many are terrible at managing their time. Instead of taking action that yields long term results, many fill their days with lifeless activities that wont matter the next day. I know I've struggled with this a great deal. Yet regardless of my struggles, I've seen significant improvement in being able to effectively manage my time. Everyday you have to choose. Believe it or not, you are in complete control of your own actions and thoughts. When you accept the power that comes with education, you're making positive life changes. You empower yourself to create a better world. Now I realize that going to college and getting a diploma is very important if you intend to make your way into this world. I'm in no position to walk away at this moment. Its a must that I make a better life for me and my child. Another thing I've learned is that in order to succeed in this world you must take initiative. Things don't just fall into place. I've noticed a lot of people under the impression that if you just sit back thinking positive thoughts, life will magically become remarkable. If you want to change any area in your life you have to take action. Life gives back what you put in. by taking action you create the opportunities you seek. Take baby steps. Showing initiative doesn't mean doing everything at once. It means creating your own path, your own luck. Do something everyday that will bring you the success that you desire. Whatever mistakes you've made in the past always remember to forgive yourself. Life is meant to be enjoyed. These past few months have been full of growth and opportunity and I'm just patiently sitting back, enjoying the ride and seeing what the future holds for me.

Blog# 7 Study Habits
Posted by shantelmead at 2:00 PM 1 comments

When I study, sometimes I have a bit of trouble concentrating, being that I have a child. So what i like to do is study for 30min to an hour at a time. I say its better to pay attention for an hour practicing what you've learned opposed to spacing out, wasting time on nonsense and forgetting things. It also helps to study with a friend. That way you can combine notes and use each others brain and discussing what you learned. I think that helps to understand the material better. The most difficult part of studying is staying motivated. Every so often you should take some time out for fun. If you’re spending all your time working, studying, and watching after the kids, you’ll likely suffer in all areas. Everyone needs some down time to re-group. So, its good to set aside a little time every week for a favorite activity. Even if its just spending time with someone, just relaxing to relieve some stress. You’ll be more productive when you return to your work. Here are some tips on studying and staying organized

Blog# 6 Dating while in College.

Good Idea or Bad Idea?
Dating someone you meet in a college is okay. I think it all comes down to a different mindset and maturity level. You are introduced into an adult lifestyle that is much different than high school. This may be the most important perk. You no longer make those same stupid dating mistakes you did in your past. I feel like at this point some people should know better. You are less likely to fall into the typical traps. A lot of people have already felt the sting of being used, being dumped, being cheated on, and being mistaken. Now you know better. Now you should know what you want and what you don't want. As people experience dating different guys and girls of all backgrounds and orientations, you learn what you can’t live with and what you can’t live without. You’re honing in on exactly what you need in a partner.
